At Saarbrücken Castle, the Saarland-based start-up lingomatch was presented to Anke Rehlinger, Minister-President of the German federal state of Saarland, and to State Secretary for Justice Dr Jens Diener as part of an institutional exchange.
Alongside further invited guests, the Federal Police Directorate in Koblenz was represented as well and had travelled specially for the occasion — a clear sign of the shared interest in digital solutions in policing and justice-related settings.
lingomatch is an innovative project that uses digital solutions to support our public authorities in their day-to-day work, effectively and close to practice. Whether in policing, the justice system or general administration — bringing interpreters in regardless of location makes procedures noticeably easier and opens up new room for action. That is forward-looking and an important step towards a modern, high-performing administration.
Digital interpreting as a structural challenge
lingomatch is building a digital platform that brings qualified and sworn interpreters into public-authority proceedings regardless of location. The aim is to support state bodies with interpreting efficiently, with legal certainty and at short notice — particularly in sensitive settings such as policing, the justice system and general administration.
In an increasingly diverse society, the question of how people make themselves understood when dealing with public authorities keeps gaining weight. Delays caused by missing interpreting can drag out proceedings, tie up resources and create legal uncertainty.
This is where lingomatch comes in, treating interpreting not as an ancillary service but as part of modern administrative infrastructure.
An exchange on digitalisation and the rule of law
After a pitch by founder Florian Crosbie, an open and constructive dialogue followed between the representatives present from politics, public administration and the security authorities.
The focus was on questions of practical feasibility, on the legal framework and on how digital solutions fit into existing administrative structures.
The founding phase begins
The meeting at Saarbrücken Castle also marked the official start of the founding phase of lingomatch. The venture builds on a proof of concept developed in-house and is now being taken further structurally.
In doing so, the company relies on close cooperation with public bodies and on pilot projects that put the platform to the test in everyday authority work.
